I always tell my current employees that I was spoiled by my summer at The Nation back in 2005. This is because I was able to get a daily education from the likes of Katrina vanden Heuvel, who I interned for and was a champion of mine during my tenure there and for the years that followed. As a Nation intern I felt like a real member of the editorial team. I was someone who had influence and I've carried that same open-minded, collaborative attitude to all the publications I've worked for since.
