Join Nation Books author Dr. Ibram X. Kendi at the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona on March 11-12, 2017. This is a ticketed event. Make ticket reservations here. Kendi will be appearing on four panels.

Kendi's Stamped from the Beginning, winner of the 2016 National Book Award for Non-Fiction, chronicles the development of anti-Black racist ideas, shedding light on their staggering power over the course of American history. Kendi is currently an assistant professor of African American History at the University of Florida. An intellectual and social movement Africana studies historian, Kendi studies racist and antiracist ideas and movements.

Seven of the 2016 honorees, including the winners for fiction and nonfiction, are welcomed to the Festival by Lisa Lucas, Executive Director of the National Book Foundation.

Slavery in America

Authors discuss a Supreme Court case about a slave ship caught in legal limbo, the little-known story of American Indian slaves, and how slavery and racist ideas are intertwined. NOTE: Mr. Kendi will be 20 minutes late to the signing area due to a live interview with CSPAN following the program.
