Join Nation Books author Yanis Varoiufakis on Sunday, April 24th at Town Hall Seattle for a discussion of global economics.
If the Euro crumbles, what does that mean for the United States, China, and the international economy? Are austerity measures the best route to solving this problem? Not according to former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis. And the Weak Suffer What They Must? is his account of Greek's 2015 financial collapse, the looming implosion of the EU's economy, and the path Europe must take to move forward together. He'll discuss ongoing problems on the continent, from rising authoritarianism and shaky capitalist principles, to its financial governing bodies (European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the European Commission). Varoufakis will also offer a clear argument for why (and how) the US can work together with Europe to prevent catastrophe.
Presented by Town Hall and University Book Store, as part of the Civics series.
